Learning outcome 3:
In collaboration with other students examine the role of emerging technologies and their impacts on the nature of learning and schooling.
Week 4's teaching and learning of the unit allowed me to understand the collaboration cycle (part of the 4c's) and it's existence in the professional environment. Through the weeks activity I was able to identify and answer the following questions:
In response: "As a teacher in the professional workplace, I would like to collaborate with my peers in the school in which I worked in. I would also like to collaborate with people who I have met along my journey, for me currently this would be those who have contributed to my learning as a teacher, including past mentors and friends who I have made across various schools. Making these connections is invaluable and so is maintaining those relationships! For me personally, technology to collaborate with others is virtually endless. I find that social media is great landscape whereby you can create active groups where people can easily post comments to one another and it can be accessed via various mobile devices, absolutely everywhere! Through such media platforms like Facebook you can also submit documents, links to video/resources...etc...the list goes on. Skype is also another technology which can be easily used to conference call with others and is available on most mobile devices and is a great tool if you are wanting to collaborate in a live environment. I believe that the major benefits of collaborating with teachers is being able to share opinions and thoughts about learning and how you can improve your students learning experiences. It is great hearing other peoples idea's and opinions as it can act as a basis for you to elaborate on your own teachings and practices. Collaboration will enrich my teaching practice as it will present an array of various information, including ideas, thoughts, opinions etc. Collaboration is an opportunity to learn and expand your knowledge and as a pre-service teacher I know that once I am qualified I will continue to keep learning as long as my career lasts." IMPACT OF EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES ON LEARNING In terms of collaboration, emerging technologies have created a realm where teachers now find it extremely easy to collaborate with their peers in an online environment. This has changed the way we collaborate by creating an open space which is easily accessible. Throughout this unit I came across the following video. It explains how digital technologies including social media impact our learning. |
THE ROLE OF EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES in the learning environment.
Emerging technologies have allowed teachers to collaborate in a way which would not have been possible in the past. Teacher can now collaborate in a number of ways using the technologies which have emerged from the Digital Age. The advancement of these technologies have also dramatically transformed the nature of learning and schooling. Week 4's activity allowed me to recognise that the realm of collaborating with peers is also endless and readably available on all of our mobile devices...it is hard to imagine what it would have been like before the existence of these technologies. The following video was used throughout Week 6 learning as an additional resource, explains how technology has rapidly changed by providing various statistical data. |
