A REFLECTION on learning:
Throughout this teaching period I have actively contributed to my own learning as I continuously looked beyond the text that was provided. As I would read through the weeks reading/s I would often find myself going on a tangent and exploring different avenues of the concept that was of focus. I found that the best way to document that learning was in my notepad, which now contains a collection of mind maps and scribbles, here and there. I would often watch videos on Youtube which further explored the concepts that were visited each week. As I am a visual learner myself- I found these sorts of resources to compliment my overall learning experience. I would also talk about what I had learnt with my mentor whilst on placement. Here I was able to actually use the strategies which I had learnt and put them into real practice. I was also given the opportunity to experiment with an array of technologies in the classroom.
Throughout this unit I have learnt about the vast landscape of The Digital Age. I have also learnt about the abundance of information that is available to students in the classroom. I intend to use my knowledge to ensure that students are aware of the various ways in which to access and evaluate information. This will stem from my understanding of information fluency, which I endeavour to pass onto my future students. I have also learnt about the 4C's in great detail. This understanding is vital for me in my future career as it acts as a basis to teaching in conjunction with The Australian Curriculum. I have also learnt about the SAMR model which has greatly assisted my understanding of how technology enhances original learning tasks and engages our learners. I have also broadened my understanding of social and ethical issues which are associated with emerging technologies. From this I have devised a plan for myself when I have my own classroom- a plan that intends to set a number of rules for students when they are using technology in the classroom. I also plan to educate students to my best ability by making the most of resources, such as The eSafety website initiated by the Australian Government.
According to the rubric I grade myself a credit. I have graded myself a credit as I believe I have successfully fulfilled all the requirements of the credit level. This assessment has demonstrated:
