Learning outcome:
Reflect
critically on societal and professional expectations of education in an era of
rapid change.
MINDmapUsing Coogle.it I created a mind map which was a requirement as part of Assessment 1 of the unit. The mind map allowed me to visually identify the main characteristics of The Digital Age and reflect upon the digital age not only in regards to teaching, but in a global context also.
The extraction of the various characteristics; including communication, education, globalisation, the role of the educator and content of the individual identified the complexity of the of the Digital Age. It also allowed me to understand the nature of the digital climate, which brought with it a number of expectations for teachers who are teaching students in the 21st Century. Coogle.it is also a valuable online resource which I had not come across prior to commencing this unit of study. It is a resource which I intend to use in the future in the classroom to visually assist students in extrapolating information and presenting it in an organised, creative manner. The expectations which I reflected upon throughout this task were; Critical thinking, problem solve and communicating. "Communication acts of the basis of all human interaction" The creation of this podcast allowed me to reflect upon the importance of communication as a teacher in the digital age.
